For this we used the KD8CEC UV-K5 Version v0.3V firmware found here and flashed it to the Quansheng K6 using the EGZUMER Web Flasher tool. After flashing the firmware we wired a straight key like so:

After setting the menu options to CW we were heard calling CQ about 5-10 miles away.
